IV. RECYCLE ITEMS THAT CAN'T BE REUSED

Warren County town-owned transfer stations accept many of the items listed below; accepted materials and fees vary by location. CHECK LINK BELOW: warrencountyny.gov/transfer.

AUTOMOTIVE MOTOR OIL and TRANSMISSION OIL:

NYS requires all service repair shops, boat marinas and any place where oil is changed to accept used oil back from customers. It must be uncontaminated, in a rigid can with a screw top. Max 5 gal per person.  No charge for returns.

AUTO COOLANT (ANTI-FREEZE):

There is no NYS take-back law, but most auto repair and radiator shops take quantities less than 3 gallons, in safe containers.
