III. RECYCLE ITEMS THAT ARE NO LONGER USEFUL 

Town Transfer Stations - Each of the towns in Warren County runs its own Transfer Station and accepts a variety of recyclables.  Go to warrencountyny.gov to find Transfer Station phone numbers for details of items they accept, any fees, hours of operation, and location.

 

AUTOMOTIVE        Check with your local town Transfer Station at warrencountyny.gov   

MOTOR OIL and TRANSMISSION OIL   NYS requires the following to accept used oil back from customers:  all service repair shops, boat marinas, any place where oil is changed, as well as retail stores that sell more than 1,000 gallons per year, such as big-box stores. The oil must be uncontaminated, in a rigid can with a screw top, with a 5 gallon per person per day maximum.  They cannot charge you for returning used oil.

AUTO COOLANT (ANTI-FREEZE)   There is no NYS mandated take-back law, however most auto repair and radiator shops will accept it in quantities less than several gallons, in safe containers with tight lids, during regular working hours.

TIRES - Tire stores - Disposal fee depends on tire size   $2.50 per regular auto tire, usually no rims allowed

Currently only plastic containers numbered 1,2, and 5 are being recycled.  Do not place “compostable” and “biodegradable” plastics into plastic recycling bins. Plastics 3, 6, 7 are not recyclable as of 2022.
